Type: Headquarters/SCIF Facility

Administrative Office

Size: 62,500 SF

The design-build project consists of a new 62,500 SF Military Intelligence Battalion Headquarters building that houses Battalion Command, Operations, and Administrative staff; storage, training, conference rooms, assembly rooms and support spaces; and staff in the SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), network operations center (NOC), and base emergency operations center (BOC).  The SCIF, NOC, and BOC are designed with a raised access floor system.  Site work includes secured fencing and a public parking area which has innovative canopies made with photovoltaic (PV) panels that will supply much of the building’s power.  Our team achieved LEED Gold certification despite the original contract’s requirement to achieve LEED Silver.  The LEED Gold certified facility features a 300 kW photovoltaic array, solar hot water system, water efficient landscaping and plumbing fixtures, LED site lighting, photosensitive indoor dimming controls, and a hyper-insulated building envelope. These elements enabled the project to achieve the maximum number of Energy Performance, Renewable Energy and Water Efficiency credits available according to the LEED rating system. These efforts resulted in lowering the annual energy demand of the facility by almost 90% over a baseline rated facility after removing process loads (equipment plug loads).  The energy efficiency is expected to be over 42% while in peak usage.
